Jackson do Pandeiro selections from Ritmo, Melodia e a Personalidade de – Philips 1961

Jackson do Pandeiro selections from Ritmo, Melodia e a Personalidade de – Philips 1961

Rojão de Brasilia (Rocket to Brasilia) is one of my favorite Jackson do Pandeiro songs. It has a striking similarity in tone and feel to Well... All Right by Buddy Holly, released the previous year in 1960. Was it possible that Jackson was inspired by that tune? It is one of many questions that I would like to ask him. Sadly, Jackson has been gone for almost 35 years. Rojão de Brasilia definitely stands on it's own with his blistering rhythmic right-handed guitar strumming. I believe it is the only all acoustic ballad he ever recorded. You can glimpse Jackson's rhythmic guitar prowess in a short TV clip of Aquilo Bom

Dr. Boticário is a Xote, a style that I rarely post on this blog. Xotes are usually played slowly with a plodding oompa rhythm. The arrangement and production of Dr. Boticário elevates this tune, thanks to Jackson's brilliant phrasing and instrumental accompaniment.
